SPARQL Endpoint Based on GeoNames CSV Dump

This SPARQL endpoint that is available at https://geonames.need.energy/sparql provides access to an RDF dataset covering Germany that was generated based on the free GeoNames CSV dumps. GeoNames is a comprehensive geographical database containing over 25 million geographical names. The data includes information about places, their alternative names, population, elevation, administrative hierarchy, and geographical coordinates. This transformation to RDF enables sophisticated queries across the entire dataset using the semantic query language SPARQL.

On this webpage, you can find a direct download of this dataset, the aforementioned SPARQL endpoint, and an interactive query editor for it. You can explore relationships between geographical entities, filter locations by various criteria, and perform complex queries across the dataset. The underlying RDF representation preserves the rich structure of the original GeoNames data while enabling advanced query capabilities. Example queries are provided to help you get started with exploring the dataset's capabilities. The source code for the transformation and this website can be found on GitHub.
